In 2024, filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun’s psychological horror feature “I Saw the TV Glow” debuted to rave reviews, inclusions on multiple ‘best of year’ lists, and garnered vocal praise from the likes of Martin Scorsese and Paul Schrader.
Now, an early teaser has arrived for her next work – the horror film “Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma” led by Gillian Anderson and “Hacks” star Hannah Einbinder.
The teaser, from MUBI, is pure concept only, no actual footage from the film. More revealing are first photos from the film which are up on Instagram.
Also onboard are Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Quintessa Swindell, Kevin McDonald, and Jack Haven as ‘Little Death’.
The synopsis reads: “After years of slapdash sequels and waning fandom, the Camp Miasma slasher franchise is handed over to an enthusiastic young director for resurrection. But when she visits the original movie’s star, a now-reclusive actress shrouded in mystery, the two women fall into a blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium.”
The project has been described as one that is a mix of Céline Sciamma’s heralded period lesbian romance drama “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” with the setting of a “Friday the 13th” sequel and aims to be a “sleepover classic”.
“Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma will release in cinemas on August 7th.
