Seventh “Evil Dead” Gets A Title, Filming Date

Warner Bros. Pictures

The seventh “Evil Dead” film appears to have landed a title – “Evil Dead: Wrath”.

A listing on the Screen Industry Guild of Aotearoa New Zealand Incorporated page (via Coming Soon), which shows film and TV shows in production in the country, confirms that shooting will begin on the film in Auckland sometime in February.

The biggest production in the city currently is the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film, which will move to Queenstown later this month. Filming on every “Evil Dead” project since the 2013 reboot has taken place in New Zealand.

“Evil Dead: Wrath” hails from director Francis Galluppi (“The Last Stop in Yuma County”). Plot details are also under wraps, but Galluppi will direct from his own script.

The cast is led by British actress Charlotte Hope (“The Nun,” “Catch Me a Killer”), American actor Zach Gilford (“Midnight Mass,” “Friday Night Lights”) and Australians galore including Jessica McNamee (“Mortal Kombat,” “The Meg”), Josh Helman (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Thirteen Lives”), Ella Newton (“Dangerous Animals,” “Harrow”), Elizabeth Cullen (“Goolagong,” “Last King of the Cross”), and newcomer Ella Oliphant.

New Line Cinema and Sony Pictures will co-finance the project with Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi producing and Bruce Campbell executive producing. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute domestically and Sony internationally.

The sixth film, Sébastien Vaniček’s “Evil Dead Burn” which was shot last year, opens in cinemas on July 24th.
