Boreanaz To Lead “Rockford Files” Reboot

Paramount+

Former “Angel,” “Bones” and “SEAL Team” star David Boreanaz has signed on to both produce and star as private eye James Rockford in the pilot for a reboot of “The Rockford Files” at NBC.

NBC, trying for a mini-revival of the traditional pilot season, ordered the pilot in January as part of a number of pickups (eight so far).

The story will center on the recently paroled (for a crime he didn’t commit) private investigator Jim Rockford who “uses his charm and wit to solve cases around Los Angeles.

It doesn’t take long for his quest for legitimacy to land him squarely in the crosshairs of both local police and organized crime.”

The original series starred James Garner in the role and ran for six years from 1974-1980, along with several telemovies.

Mike Daniels (“Sons of Anarchy,” “The Village”) is writing the series and will executive produce with Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman.
