X-Men-Centric “Doomsday” Teaser Details

20th Century Studios

A bootleg of the third teaser trailer for “Avengers: Doomsday” has leaked online ahead of its release in cinemas later this week and the rumors are confirmed – it’s an X-Men teaser.

The clip is mostly the camera flying through the empty halls of the X-Mansion which has fallen into disrepair. Sir Ian McKellen’s Magneto’s voice can be heard: “Death comes for us all, that’s all I know for sure. The question isn’t are you prepared to die, the question is who will you be when you close your eyes?”

We soon see a chessboard with a piece floating mid-air. Professor X (Patrick Stewart), in his original chair from the old films, and Magneto (McKellen) sit by a window and grasp each other’s hands in solidarity. Magneto sports long grey hair and a beard.

Then comes the money shot – James Marsden’s Scott Summers/Cyclops, in the classic Jim Lee comic blue-and-yellow X-Men outfit, kneeling on a battlefield with a Sentinel walking in the background. He rips off his visor and opens his eyes, looking upward, the raw red optic blast pouring out of him into the sky.

Then the text: “The X-Men Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday”.

What this means is unclear. We know only some X-Men characters return, and this suggests a tragedy in which various characters have already been killed off ala the start of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”.

“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to be released on December 18th 2026.
