Tarantino Open To Animated Vega Bros Film

Miramax Films

Quentin Tarantino’s recent collaboration with Fortnite on the animated short “Yuki’s Revenge” seems to have inspired the filmmaker, who is considering the animated format for some other long-gestating passion projects.

In an interview with EW to promote the short and this weekend’s “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair,” Tarantino says working with motion-capture technology and animation on ‘Yuki’ has led to him considering one of his most famous unmade films – the “Vega Brothers” movie:

“I could see some world between this and Japanese anime that I could find some happy medium or, you know, between the things that I couldn’t physically do, like say the Vega Brothers movie, or something like that.”

Rumored since the late 1990s, Tarantino was considering the project as his “Jackie Brown” follow-up before ultimately deciding on the two-part “Kill Bill” films. The original film would’ve seen Michael Madsen’s Vic Vega/Mr. Blonde from “Reservoir Dogs” teaming with his brother, John Travolta’s Vincent Vega from “Pulp Fiction”.

Events would’ve taken place during the period Vincent was running a club in Amsterdam, just prior to “Pulp Fiction”. Madsen passed away earlier this year, but an animated film could theoretically work.

Tarantino has found his name in the headlines today, as during the reveal of his Top 10 list of 21st-century films, he made some disparaging remarks about actor Paul Dano’s acting abilities that have gone viral. Criticism of Tarantino’s comments has been swift.
