A surprising new report at Semafor claims that U.S. President Donald Trump wants Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker and filmmaker Brett Ratner to re-team for another “Rush Hour” movie.
The report claims Trump aims to “revive the raucous comedies and action movies of the late 1980s to late 1990s” with the “Rush Hour” films and the Van Damme film “Bloodsport”, said to be personal favourites.
The report claims has already pushed for a revival of “Rush Hour”. Disgraced filmmaker Ratner, who faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment in 2017, is working on a $40 million documentary about Melania Trump for Prime Video.
It’s alleged that Trump hopes to bring both Ratner and Paramount’s Larry Ellison, also one of Trump’s biggest financial supporters, together as Paramount is in the mix to take control of Warner Bros. Discovery.
The original films starred Chan as a Hong Kong cop paired with Tucker’s loud-mouth LAPD Detective, who must find a way to work together to save a Chinese diplomat’s abducted daughter.
The studio is said to be eager to give the sequel the green light, but has concerns over Ratner.
