Last year came confirmation that “South Park” co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone would team with musician Kendrick Lamar and producer Dave Free on a new live-action comedy feature at Paramount Pictures.

Vernon Chatman penned the film that was originally planned for a July 2025 release, but was pushed back due to scheduling complications.

The story follows a young black man who is interning as a slave reenactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.

Shot in the last quarter of 2024, it was hit by a delay to March 20th 2026. Last night came the news that the film’s release date is unknown at this time, with a new one not yet announced.

Those involved are continuing to finish the movie, saying in a statement: “It’s true – we’re moving (again). We’re working hard at finishing the movie.”

Parker is directing with production companies PGLang and Park County behind the project.

Previously, Paramount’s Brian Robbins called the film “one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read”.
