The British tabloids have posted the first photos of the all-new Diagon Alley that will appear in HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series.
Though there’s some different signage and a slightly more real world look, the appearance isn’t hugely different from the films.
One source for The Sun, who took the photos, says there will be elements of this set that are very much new to viewers:
“There is a whole new part that wasn’t in the first films. It’s completely different and it has a different feel. The street is two layers. The wand shop is a little different but the main difference is the bank.
I don’t think they’re allowed to do the same as the films, apart from the general Harry Potter story, so the design will be very different. The joke shop is in a different place and does not look anything like the original.”
That bank, Gringotts, doesn’t appear to be visible in the new photos. The shots follow on from those that came out the other week of the Hogwarts Express train which is seemingly identical to the films.
The first season, which will continue shooting into next year, will be based on the “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” novel (“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” in the US). The series is scheduled to premiere early 2027 on HBO.
