Two weekends ago, the news came that British actor Tom Holland had been rushed to the hospital after a stunt on the set of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” went wrong.
The actor was treated for a mild concussion on Friday, September 19th, but reports across the UK tabloids were conflicting as to the details.
Adding to the confusion was that he appeared the following night at The Brothers Trust charity event run by his parents, Nikki and Dominic Holland, only to be excused early for ‘not feeling well’.
Now, Dominic Holland has set the record straight on the trust’s official site in a posting saying that the initial newspaper reports “had almost everything wrong” from the location to talk of a “mystery woman was also injured in the accident”.
He says Tom did spend the night in the hospital after being taken in as a precaution for a “mild concussion”. He was discharged and was fine until he arrived at the charity event on the Saturday, that he started to feel unwell:
“After the first two rounds of our quiz and whilst dinner was being served, Tom started to feel unwell and instinctively took himself backstage. Keep in mind that with [a] concussion, two things to avoid are bright lights and excessive noise. Nikki and I were summoned backstage to find Tom vomiting. We both stared aghast. Obviously, he could not continue. This being a rarefied audience, a Harvard neurophysician happened to be on hand. He advised Tom to go home immediately.”
Dominic Holland adds that “Tom continues to make a full recovery”. He also spoke highly of director Destin Daniel Cretton, calling him: “Tall, handsome, always well dressed and with more hair than a man of his age can expect.”
Holland leads a cast that also includes Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III, and Liza Colón-Zayas. Thunderbolts* star Florence Pugh has also joined the cast.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will be released in theaters on July 31st 2026.
