Cherry, Reis, Wilson Set For “Resident Evil”

Apple TV+, HBO

“Severance” breakout Zach Cherry, “True Detective: Night Country” co-star Kali Reis and “Twisted Metal” actor Johnno Wilson have all joined the cast of Zach Cregger’s “Resident Evil” reboot at Sony Pictures and Constantin Film.

Austin Abrams (“Weapons,” “Euphoria”) leads the feature that is standalone and veers away from the previous adaptations.

The project aims to be a love letter to the original Capcom video games, while using brand new characters and not adapting any particular entry.

Abrams is said to be playing a hapless courier transporting a mysterious package when all hell breaks loose in Raccoon City.

Cherry is said to be playing a scientist at a hospital, while Reis is an ex-military character with her role originally written for a male actor. Wilson’s role is not known.

Cregger is directing and wrote the script with Shay Hatten (“John Wick: Chapter 3”). Shooting gets underway mid-October in Prague ahead of a September 18th 2026 release.
