Netflix has unveiled first look images from its western series “The Abandons” which they announced will premiere on the service on December 4th.

Gillian Anderson, Lena Headey, Nick Robinson, Lucas Till, Ryan Hurst, Lamar Johnson, Michiel Huisman, Toby Hemingway, Aisling Franciosi and Patton Oswalt are among the cast of the period drama set in the Oregon Territory in the 1850s.

It follows a group of outlier families who come together to fight a corrupt, wealthy power that wants to force them off their land.

More specifically it follows two families led by two matriarchs – one of wealth and privilege bound by blood, the other a found family of orphans and outcasts bound by love and necessity.

They soon find their fates linked by two crimes, an awful secret, a star-crossed love and a piece of land with silver underneath.

The Calgary-shot series hails from “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter who served as showrunner until he abruptly left the project just a few weeks before the completion of filming.

Chris Keyser, Robert Askins, Stephen Surjik, Otto Bathurst, Emmy Grinwis and Jon Pare also executive produce.
