Exhibitors everywhere just became even bigger Swifties than they already were.
Taylor Swift is returning to cinemas with the superstar announcing today that her upcoming album “The Life of a Showgirl” will be getting an official release party in cinemas for one weekend only – from October 3rd-5th.
The album itself hits on October 3rd, while the theatrical release will feature the world premiere of the music video for the Showgirl single “The Fate of Ophelia”.
The release will offer never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how the album was made, cut-by-cut explanations of what inspired the music, and brand new lyric videos from the release according to THR.
She adds in her social media posting: “Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan… Tickets are on sale now. Dancing is optional but very much encouraged”
Two years ago, her The Eras Tour concert film was a global phenomenon – becoming the top-grossing concert film of all time with $261.6 million globally and propping up a struggling box office being impacted by VFX pipeline issues and actors’ strike-related problems.
AMC Theatres is again partnering with Swift to distribute the special event which will go up against the Dwayne Johnson-starrer “The Smashing Machine” and an IMAX limited re-release of “Avatar: The Way of Water”.
