Tomorrow’s “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past” animated series is set to do something the franchise hasn’t done on screen before – unite the Skywalker Family.
Writer and executive producer Benji Samit spoke with the StarWars.com official site and explained the show’s creative choice to show Anakin, Padmé, Luke, and Leia Skywalker as a family unit on screen for the first time.
Samit says: “This may be the only opportunity to ever see the Skywalker family unit, to get all four of them interacting with each other. It felt like something that maybe we could be the only ones to show that to the fans and to ourselves.”
The interaction never occurred within the “Star Wars” universe as Padmé died shortly after childbirth, Anakin had fallen to the dark side before the birth of the twins, and both Luke and Leia were separated.
The new series explores various spins on existing lore of the franchise, including an alternate version of Obi-Wan Kenobi who has turned to the evil side. Padmé also reportedly has a pirate-related backstory in the show, while Darth Revan from the “Knights of the Old Republic” game appears.
All four episodes of “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past” will debut at once on Disney+ on Friday September 19th.
