A couple of key release and premiere date announcements today.
First, HBO Max has finally announced an October 26th premiere date for “IT: Welcome to Derry,” the upcoming prequel spin-off series to the two films based on the Stephen King novel. The nine-episode run will unfurl weekly through to year’s end.
Next, Universal Pictures has seemingly pulled Jordan Peele’s untitled next directorial effort from the release date calendar on its website. Last year came the news that the project had been lined up for an October 23rd 2026 release, but there’s been no real updates since.
Details of the film remain heavily guarded and now its entry on the website appears to have been removed altogether, sparking concerns the film has been delayed and likely won’t premiere next year. The Peele-produced “Him” hits cinemas on September 19th so it’s likely we’ll get more info in coming days during interviews.
Finally, Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Gore Verbinski’s new film “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die” which will get a wide theatrical release on January 30th.
Sam Rockwell, Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz, and Juno Temple star in the film about a man claiming to be from the future who takes the patrons of an iconic Los Angeles diner hostage in search of unlikely recruits in a quest to save the world.
