A seventh film in the “Final Destination” film series is in the works at New Line Cinema following the major success of this year’s sixth entry “Final Destination: Bloodlines”.
That film’s co-writer, Lori Evans Taylor, has been hired to pen the next installment in the series. Taylor was a key player on the script, which was co-written with Guy Busick (“Ready or Not”) from a story by Taylor, Busick, and “Spider-Man” director Jon Watts.
The first new entry in the series since 2011, ‘Bloodlines’ launched to not only good reviews but grossed over $286 million at the worldwide box office with $138.1 million of that domestically.
That makes it easily the most successful film of the series to date, doubling previous record holder – 2009’s “The Final Destination”. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein directed ‘Bloodlines,’ no word as yet if they’ll return.
Watts, Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich will produce. The overall franchise has earned over $983 million.
