Tim Burton’s famed 1989 DC Comics adaptation “Batman” and its 1992 follow-up “Batman Returns” are set to return to cinemas.
Remastered versions of both films will be back on the big screen for a one-night engagement on August 25th exclusively at over 160 Dolby Cinema at AMC Theatres locations across the United States.
Both films will be presented on the big screen in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for the first time.
The previous 2019 4K UHD release of the films, still held up as among the best 4K transfers committed to disc, contained Dolby Atmos audio tracks but only regular HDR10 video – not the superior Dolby Vision HDR.
The Burton films starred Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Pat Hingle as Commissioner Gordon and Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth.
Also starring in the first are Jack Nicholson as The Joker, Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale, Jack Palance as Carl Grissom, Robert Wuhl as Alexander Knox, and Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent.
The second co-stars Danny DeVito as The Penguin, Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman and Christopher Walken as Max Shreck.
Burton said: “I hadn’t watched these films since I made them, and seeing them again with this level of clarity, beauty, color, and sound felt really new and exciting. Dolby Atmos and Vision brought it all to life in a fresh way.”
