Paramount Pictures has released the first photo of the popcorn bucket for the upcoming semi-reboot/revival of “The Naked Gun” franchise.
The bucket, which dispenses popcorn from a beaver’s backside, is a big ol’ tribute to one of the original film’s memorable jokes.
The new comedy, dubbed “the single most important #NakedGun movie since the other Naked Gun movies,” will see Liam Neeson star in the film as Detective Frank Drebin.
Joining him will be Paul Walter Hauser as his partner Ed, Pamela Anderson as femme fatale Beth who seeks justice for her brother’s murder, Kevin Durand as the villain and the likes of Danny Huston, CCH Pounder, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and Eddie Yu in supporting roles.
Neeson and Hauser play the sons of Leslie Nielsen and George Kennedy’s characters who just happen to have the same names.
“Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers” writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand are reuniting with that film’s director Akiva Schaffer on the project. Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins produce.
The new “The Naked Gun” opens on August 1st.
