Guy Ritchie Exits “Road House 2”

Amazon

In a surprising bit of news, filmmaker Guy Ritchie has exited Amazon MGM Studios’ “Road House 2”.

Ritchie signed on for the gig back in April, taking over from Doug Liman who famously walked away over a dispute about the film’s straight to streaming release.

Jake Gyllenhaal is set to return after starring in last year’s remake of the famed 1980s cult film starring Patrick Swayze.

Gyllenhaal starred in that film as Dalton, a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a roadside bar in the Florida Keys.

Specifics of the sequel’s story remain under wraps. Screenwriter Will Beall (“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” “Bad Boys: Ride or Die”) is penning the script.

Charles Roven, Alex Gartner, Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh McLaughlin produce. Amazon hopes to replicate some of the first film’s success, the title drawing in nearly 80 million worldwide viewers in its first eight weeks.
