The first official photo is out from James Cameron’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” the third film in his massive five-film sci-fi saga that began with the 2009 movie and continued with the 2022 sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water”.
The photo shows Zoe SaldaƱa’s Neytiri and comes via Empire Magazine who spoke with the actress about her role in the new film.
She confirms the third movie will start with her and Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully still dealing with the death of their son, Neteyam:
“That pain is seamlessly followed up on, and because it doesnāt really have anywhere to go, and doesnāt go away, rage can also come from it. [The Sullys] are going to be tested as a familyā¦Not only would everything thatās happening compel her to question the bond she has with her husband, but also her bond with herself, her people, her land, and the way the Naāvi are. Sheās going to question everything.”
SaldaƱa adds that Oona Chaplin’s Carang, the leader of the Ash People clan, will be as fierce a warrior as Neytiri.
The cast of the film also includes Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, Giovanni Ribisi as Parker Selfridge, Kate Winslet as Ronal, Cliff Curtis as Tonowari, Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman, and Edie Falco as General Frances Ardmore.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash” is set to hit cinemas December 19th 2025.
