“Deadpool 3” To Exit May 2024 Release

20th Century Studios

In what’s seen as one of the first major strike-induced delays of the 2024 schedule, Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool 3” won’t be released on May 3rd next year according to Deadline.

Though Disney has yet to officially announce the delay at this point, the news isn’t surprising. Director Shawn Levy suggested as such the other day in an interview where he indicated production on the film was halfway through when it was stalled due to the actor’s strike.

Even if the strike ends in the next few weeks, filming likely wouldn’t begin until early next year and there is simply too much left to do to finish in time.

According to the trade, there’s a long shot that “Captain America: Brave New World,” which was originally set for that May 3rd 2024 and then pushed back to July 26th 2024, might actually be moved back to the May slot as it managed to finish filming before the strike began and thus is further along.

The same isn’t true for their other two Phase Five releases with neither “Blade” or “Thunderbolts” having begun filming prior to the strikes.

Even if the actor’s strike ends before year’s end, neither of those projects is likely to get going until 2024 which means ‘New World Order’ in the first half of the year and “Deadpool 3” in the second may well be the only Marvel movies out next year aside from Sony’s “Kraven the Hunter” and “Madame Web” films.
