“Saw X” is currently in cinemas and drawing rave reviews that paint it as the best entry in the franchise to date – no small feat for a film series up to its tenth film.
Turns out the making of the movie was hit by one small hiccup, which saw law enforcement involved. Speaking with the NME, the film’s director Kevin Greutert says it began when first assistant editor Steve Forn was finishing the sound design for the movie.
More specifically, he was working on the ‘eye vacuum trap’ scene in the new film at his office in North Hollywood, a scene involving a lot of screaming and some gross sound effects.
Turns out he had the volume on a little too loud. Greutert explains:
“There was a knock at the door. We have the doorbell [camera] video of the police walking up, [Forn answering the door] and the police saying, ‘The neighbours [have been] calling and saying someone’s being tortured to death in here.’
And he was like, ‘Actually, I’m just working on a movie… You can come in and see it if you want?’ The cops started laughing! They said, ‘We want to but, you know, you’re all right.’
It’s a pretty funny story… Plus Steve is such a mild mannered guy. I can only imagine the look on his face when he realised what was happening!”
Greutert has directed three “Saw” films to date.
