Disney+ series “Ahsoka” debuted at No. 2 on Nielsen’s latest ranking of streaming originals which is published around a month after they air.
The double-episode premiere pulled in 829 million minutes viewed for the week of Monday, August 21st – a result which beats the opening episode of the third season of “The Mandalorian” (823 million minutes) and the triple-episode debut of “Andor” (624 million), but was far behind the double-episode premiere of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” (1.03 billion minutes).
Netflix’s “Who Is Erin Carter?” sat on the top spot this time with 1.04 billion minutes viewed for its seven episodes. “Untold,” “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “Only Murders in the Building” came in third through fifth.
Meanwhile on Nielsen’s latest overall rankings – which includes motion pictures and acquired series – “Suits” yet again held onto the No. 1 spot with 2.7 billion minutes viewed across Netflix and Peacock.
If the “Ahsoka” number of 829 million minutes is divided by the double episode runtime (54min + 42min), it works out to be 8.635 million ‘views’. Nielsen results only cover the United States and even then only certain ways of watching.
Disney+ previously announced that the first episode pulled in 14 million ‘views’ globally.
