DC Studios Sets Up Permanent UK Home

Warner Bros. Pictures

Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the home of the “Harry Potter” films and more recently HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” is set to get a new permanent resident.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC Studios have announced that they are set to use the facility as DC’s primary production hub. In addition, a sprawling plan has been announced to expand the location by more than 50% capacity and ten sound stages.

That will expand the studio’s production and support space footprint to 1.78 million square feet/165 square kilometers, and will take its total stage count from 19 to 29 – a capacity capable of handling many major film and TV productions simultaneously.

Warner Bros. Discovery will break ground on the expansion in the second quarter of next year ahead of completion in 2027.

DC Studios co-chairmen and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran will also consult with the expansion team to “ensure that their ideas are incorporated” into the new facilities.

The final DCEU film, James Wan’s “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” also shot at Leavesden along with Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” movie.
