In the days since the release this week of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” on digital platforms, fans of the film have noticed and started making lists of the small changes made between the theatrical and digital cuts of the film.
Some of the film’s dialogue, visuals, and effects have been tweaked for the film’s home video release, mostly additions though there have been some removals as well.
Some of the more obvious changes include Miguel O’Hara’s digital assistant posing for a selfie, Spider-Punk getting lyrics in his intro song, The Spot getting some dialogue change-up, the line “Sorry man, I’m going home” that Miles says to Miguel has been removed, more lines in the face of the Earth-42 Prowler, changes in shot compositions and more.
A comprehensive list of changes, with video examples, is up in a thread on Chris Gallardo’s Twitter. The changes are all minor, not impacting the story or character work.
But this follows on from the reveal months ago of two different versions of the film in cinemas after Sony ‘patched’ the movie to fix some sound balancing issues people had with the early scenes.
The film was a major success critically and at the box-office, with the concluding film “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” originally slated for March but now looking like it may not arrive until 2025 due to a combination of the strikes and the production of the third film not being as far along as expected.
“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is available on digital now.
