It has been a busy weekend for DC, and not just because of “The Flash” film opening in cinemas. DC Studios co-chief James Gunn spent the holiday weekend doing screen tests to find the stars of his “Superman: Legacy” film and gave fans an update on how it went.
The filmmaker shared on the new social media platform BlueSky (via Deadline) that he had an: “Amazing amazing weekend of auditions for Superman: Legacy. I’m blown away by some of these actors, among the best I’ve ever seen or worked with.”
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” filmmaker’s comments come after he confirmed he was ‘narrowing’ down the list of actors for the Superman and Lois roles, and last week spoke about how some of the names rumored are completely false.
Reports had suggested Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, and Tom Brittney would up for Clark Kent/Superman, whilst Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan and Phoebe Dynevor are up for Lois Lane.
Gunn has previously warned fans not to believe anything unless it came directly from him or DC co-chief Peter Safran. “Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to be released on July 11th 2025, with Gunn directing and writing the film.
Shooting on the movie will start in January with Henry Braham, who worked with Gunn on the two ‘Guardians’ sequels and “The Suicide Squad,” serving as cinematographer.
