“S.W.A.T.” Star Responds To Cancellation

CBS

On Friday came the announcement that the CBS series “S.W.A.T.” was to be cancelled after six seasons.

The news came as a shock as the series has seen a rating resurgence recently and had been performing strongly for the network sandwiched between recent hit “Fire Country” and much older veteran “Blue Bloods”.

The series current season averages 6.8 million total viewers per episode on Friday nights, according to Nielsen. Its future seemed safe even as it was deemed ‘on the bubble’. The axing is arguably the most high-profile network series to have been cancelled in recent weeks and certainly the most watched.

Now, the show’s star Shemar Moore has taken to Instagram to express his frustration over the decision made by the network. Moore, who plays the lead character LAPD Sgt. Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson says:

“For CBS, last two years we’ve been killing it… We’ve done nothing wrong. We did everything that was asked for…

To abruptly get told that you’re cancelled when you led us to believe last week – and the week before, and the week before that – that we would have some semblance of a season seven to at least say goodbye, if not continue. And to abruptly be told, ‘You’re done.’

I care about… a whole lot of people that are abruptly being told that ‘You don’t matter. Sorry, thank you for your services. Good luck and find a new job.’ And to me, that’s not okay.

I understand it’s not personal, it’s business, but I still have faith that ‘S.W.A.T.’ will live to see another day… let them know that cancelling ‘S.W.A.T.’ is a f——- mistake.”

Fans of the series have subsequently taken to social media, commenting and posting messages with a #SaveSWAT hashtag.
