The first set photos have emerged of singer/actress Lady Gaga in full costume as Harley Quinn on the set of Todd Phillips’ “Joker: Folie a Deux” which has been filming since December.
Previously an official photo was released of Gaga in more regular garb alongside Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role of Arthur Fleck from the 2019 film.
Reports indicate the new film will take place primarily within the walls of Arkham Asylum and will essentially be a musical.
The film reportedly unfolds from the perspective of the warped mind of Harley Quinn in what is essentially a reversal of the first film which unfolded heavily from Fleck’s perspective.
In the Batman comics, Quinn was psychiatrist Dr. Harleen Quinzel who worked at the asylum until her mind was warped by the Joker and she became obsessed with him.
The film is expected to change that up a bit, and is considered a DC Elseworlds project which takes place outside the main cinematic DC Universe (DCU) of the Gunn-Safran DC Studios.
Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, Harry Lawley and Jacob Lofland also co-star in the film, which is due to be released in theaters on October 4th 2024.
