A new report at One Take News indicates that Oscar-winning “Everything Everywhere All at Once” directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert are involved in a “Star Wars” project.
Specifically, the pair are said to have directed at least one episode of the upcoming Lucasfilm and Disney+ series “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”. Lucasfilm has not commented on the report as yet.
What’s not clear is if the pair has helmed an episode of the already completed filming first season, or are being lined up to helm an episode of a yet-to-be-announced second season. A follow-up at THR suggests it was the first season and could span multiple episodes.
A lot of details about the new series are under wraps beyond it essentially sounding like this franchise’s equivalent (albeit in live-action form) of “Star Trek: Prodigy” – namely a younger-skewering series following a group of kids lost out in the galaxy.
Further plot specifics are under wraps and the only confirmed star at this point is Jude Law. We do know the project hails from “Spider-Man: No Way Home” director Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, and that it takes place in the same post-ROTJ time period as “The Mandalorian” (and so could crossover).
Whatever the case is, new details about “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” and a bunch of other “Star Wars” titles are expected in a few weeks when Star Wars Celebration Europe runs from April 7th-11th.
