Bupkis
Peacock has set a May 4th premiere date for the new eight-episode series “Bupkis” starring Pete Davidson, Joe Pesci and Edie Falco. Judah Miller serves as showrunner, executive producer and writer.
Davidson serves as writer and executive producer and stars in the fictionalized version of his life with Falco as his mom and Pesci as his grandfather. Charlie Day, Brad Garrett, Simon Rex, Ray Romano, Kenan Thompson and Chase Sui Wonders guest star. [Source: TV Line]
FBoy Island
HBO Max’s breakout reality series “FBoy Island” is moving over to The CW which is reportedly the front-runner to pick up the series for a third season after being cancelled by the streamer last year. In addition, they are planning a spin-off series called “FGirl Island”.
Nikki Glaser hosts the series set in the Cayman Islands and followed three women are joined by 24 men there to compete for cold, hard cash. The women navigate the dating pool together with the hope of finding a lasting love connection. [Source: TV Line]
One Day in December
Lucy Boynton (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) will star in and executive produce indie filmmaker Drake Doremus’s first series, the romantic drama “One Day in December,” for Netflix.
Based on the Josie Silver 2018 novel of the same name about a woman who spends a year scouring London in search of the mystery man she once glanced at from a bus. Turns out he’s the new boyfriend of her best friend. [Source: Deadline]
Phineas and Ferb
“Phineas and Ferb” co-creator and executive producer Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh is officially joining the 40 episode revival of the series currently in the works at Disney Branded Television.
Co-creator Dan Povenmire is spearheading the revival and Marsh will now serve as executive producer and voice director on the new episodes. It is unclear at this time where the revival will air. [Source: Variety]
Hotel Cocaine
Danny Pino (“Mayans MC”) has scored the lead role in the eight-episode crime thriller series “Hotel Cocaine” at MGM+ and hails from creator Chris Brancato who serves as executive producer and showrunner. Guillermo Navarro will direct the pilot.
Pino plays Roman Compte, a Cuban expatriate who fought against Fidel Castro in the Bay of Pigs invasion and re-made his life in Miami as the general manager of the Mutiny Hotel, the epicenter of the city’s cocaine scene. Filming begins in May in the Dominican Republic ahead of an early 2024 airing. [Source: Deadline]
