Last year, Netflix’s launched its new young adult spin on “The Addams Family” franchise with the series “Wednesday” becoming a record-breaking smash hit for the streamer and making its leading lady Jenna Ortega a household name.
Recently, she started a slight controversy regarding the series when she claimed she changed dialogue from some scenes without informing the writers beforehand due to her not feeling comfortable with her character’s lines and how they didn’t feel true to the nature of the young female Addams. She adds that she’s “very, very protective” of the character.
Making an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” recently, the actress says she hopes the second season of the series will focus more on the horror of the premise and less on the romantic subplots involving her character.
Offering an update on where things stand with the second season, she says: “We just started the writers room. I think we want to up the horror aspect a little bit and then get Wednesday out of the romantic situation, let her be her own individual and fight her own crimes.”
Ortega is currently in cinemas now, starring in the sixth installment in the “Scream” franchise reprising her role as Tara Carpenter, half-sister of Sam (Melissa Barrera) with both surviving from the previous movie. The new one shifts the location to New York City and offers a whole different hunting ground for Ghostface.
