Marvel’s “Quantumania” Stingers Break Down

With “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” now out in cinemas, the film begins the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a big concentration on Jonathan Majors’ villain Kang the Conqueror.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE ENDING OF “ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA”

As a result, Marvel has foregone its usual idea of doing ‘mid-credits set-up/post-credits gag’ stinger sequences in favor of two more serious-minded stingers with an important mid-credits set-up showcasing the scale of Kang’s threat, and a post-credits stinger which acts as a tease of the second season of “Loki”.

The mid-credits scene initially reveals the Council of Kangs – three variants of Kang (all of whom are played by Jonathan Majors) as they discuss the death of the Kang the Conqueror variant who serves as the main villain of ‘Quantumania’.

That variant, the one they dub the ‘exiled one’, was defeated by Ant-Man and the Wasp. The three variants here come from the comics – the robed elder Immortus, the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Rama-Tut, and the cyborg Scarlet Centurion.

Immortus has reportedly called together all of the Kang variants for the beginning of a multiversal war against the growing problem of the Avengers. The scene then shows off thousands of Kang variants, all with slightly different looks, cheering in a giant amphitheatre as more teleport in to join them.

Meanwhile, the post-credits scene introduces audiences to another variant from 1920s Earth as Victor Timely (Majors) talks about his theory of time and relativity.

In the crowd, watching are Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson) with the latter stating that Timely doesn’t seem like the man described to him by Loki who met the MCU’s first Kang variant He Who Remains in the show’s first season. Loki assures him he is.

That serves as essentially a teaser clip for the second season of “Loki” which is due to arrive on Disney+ this Summer and will likely further explore Kang’s multiverse takeover plans.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” is now playing in cinemas everywhere.
