“Rainbow Six” Film Sets Some New Writers

Paramount Pictures, Amazon

Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith, co-creators of the 2013 British crime drama “Run,” have been tapped to write the action thriller adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel “Rainbow Six” at Paramount Pictures.

“John Wick” sequels helmer Chad Stahelski is attached to helm the film which will serve as a sequel to 2021’s “Without Remorse”. That film saw Michael B. Jordan take on the role of Clancy’s Navy SEAL-turned-CIA operative John Clark character. It also teased a potential “Rainbow Six” in its final scene.

Jordan will return in a role which serves as a darker counterpart of Clancy’s more famous creation Jack Ryan. Willem Dafoe and Liev Schrieber have previously played the role on screen, whilst Ryan Reynolds was once slated to play the character.

The original novel revolves around Clark who becomes head of an international task force to combat terrorism. The team is quickly confronted by a series of international incidents.

Jordan will produce alongside Elizabeth Raposo, Akiva Goldsman, Greg Lessans, Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec whilst Stahelski and his 87Eleven Entertainment cohorts Jason Spitz and Alex Young will executive produce.

The “Rainbow Six” property has famously been adapted into a successful series of video games by Ubisoft.

Fajemisin-Duncan and Smith also worked on the award-winning “Save Me” and are currently adapting the sci-fi novel “The Upper World” as a Daniel Kaluuya-led project at Netflix. They’re also developing British boxing series “Fightland” at Starz.

Stahelski is attached to various projects, including the “Ghost of Tsushima” adaptation and a “Highlander” remake, so it’s not clear when this will go into production.
