It’s official, Amazon Prime’s “The Terminal List” is not only continuing – it’s expanding. Amazon has announced that the Chris Pratt-led military thriller series, based on the Jack Carr novel, has finalised a second season renewal order.
In addition, the streaming giant has picked up an untitled prequel spin-off series focusing on the origins of Taylor Kitsch’s Ben Edwards character from the first season.
The prequel is an elevated espionage thriller that follows Ben’s (Kitsch) journey from Navy SEAL to CIA paramilitary operator, exploring the true darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.
Kitsch will reprise his role and is set to executive produce alongside “The Terminal List” creator/executive producer David DiGilio who will also serve as showrunner on the prequel. Pratt, Carr and Antoine Fuqua also executive produce.
Other characters from the books will be featured in the prequel including Pratt’s Navy SEAL James Reece and Raife Hastings whose potential arrival was set up in the first season.
Talk of a second season of the main series has been swirling for months following the series being a hit for Prime and reaching No. 2 on Nielsen’s weekly Top 10 streaming ratings chart at one point.
That eight-episode first season followed Pratt’s Navy SEAL who is the sole survivor of a high-stakes covert mission gone wrong. Conflicting memories of the event and questions about his culpability lead him to uncover evidence of dark forces working against him and his family.
