Actor Dennis Quaid is joining the Taylor Sheridan-verse that began with “Yellowstone” and has seen prequel spin-offs with “1883” and “1923”.
Quaid has been set to star opposite David Oyelowo in Sheridan’s new original series and “1883” spin-off “Bass Reeves” for the Paramount+ service. Quaid will play Sherrill Lynn, a Deputy U.S. Marshall, in the series which is currently filming in Texas.
Reeves (Oyelowo) was known as one of the greatest frontier lawmen in American history and possibly the inspiration for “The Lone Ranger”. He worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.
The series is executive produced by Sheridan, Chad Feehan, David C. Glasser, David Oyelowo, Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and David Hutkin for MTV Entertainment Studios,101 Studios, Bosque Ranch Productions and Yoruba Saxon.
