R.I.P. Composer Angelo Badalamenti

Famed film and TV composer Angelo Badalamenti has died at the age of 85. The news was revealed on social media by a posting from his great-nephew.

Badalamenti is best known for his work scoring for director David Lynch on some of his most famous works including “Blue Velvet,” “Mulholland Drive,” “The Straight Story” and “Twin Peaks” including the iconic theme for the latter.

Badalamenti has been scoring films since “Gordon’s War” in 1973 and provided music for such features as “The Beach,” “Secretary,” “The City of Lost Children,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” “Wild at Heart,” “Arlington Road,” “Holy Smoke,” “Auto Focus,” “Cabin Fever,” “Dark Water,” “44 Inch Chest,” “The Wicker Man” remake,” and the NBC series “Profiler”.

In his time he collaborated with the likes of David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Nina Simone, Anthrax and more.

He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Soundtrack Awards and the Henry Mancini Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
