“Brokeback Mountain” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” filmmaker Ang Lee has set his own son, Mason Lee, to play revered martial artist and screen legend Bruce Lee for his upcoming action feature “Bruce Lee” for Sony’s 3000 Pictures.
Ang Lee will direct and Dan Futterman is penning the script about the Chinese-American actor known for iconic films like “Fists of Fury” and “Enter the Dragon”. Futterman takes over from Jean Castelli, Alex Law, Mabel Cheung and Wells Tower who all took cracks at it.
Mason Lee appeared in “The Hangover Part 2” and his father’s “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” along with the more recent Taiwanese comedy “Stand by Me”. He is 32, the same age Bruce Lee was when he suddenly died.
Lawrence Grey, Shannon Lee, Ang Lee, Ben Everard and Brian Bell will produce, whilst Elizabeth Gabler and Marisa Paiva are overseeing the project.
