“Everything Everywhere” Leads Spirit Noms

The Independent Spirit Awards have announced their nominations this morning, with the big splashes coming from “Everything Everywhere All at Once” with eight nominations, “Tár” with seven and “Aftersun” with five.

Other notable nominees include “Bones and All,” “After Yang,” “Pearl,” “Women Talking,” “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” “Emily the Criminal,” “Palm Trees and Power Lines,” “Causeway,” “The Cathedral,” “Murina,” “The Inspection” and “Our Father, the Devil”.

What has drawn surprise are some notable omissions with “The Whale,” “Till,” “Armageddon Time” and “My Policeman” all shut out – including Oscar Best Actor front-runner Brendan Fraser. Others like “Bardo,” “The Good Nurse,” and “White Noise” weren’t eligible.

Taylour Paige and Raul Castillo announced the nominees this year, with distributor A24 dominating the list with 24 total nominations. The winners will be announced on March 4th:
