More details keep coming out about the fifth “Indiana Jones” film ahead of its debut next Summer.
Empire has posted a new photo showing off “Fleabag” and “Solo” star Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character of Helena, Henry Jones Jr’s goddaughter in the film which unfolds in 1969.
Talking about the character, James Mangold calls her “slippery, charming, the girl next door, a grifter”. Harrison Ford calls her a “pioneer in ethical accounting”.
The “Killing Eve” creator and “No Time to Die” script polisher says Mangold gave her a specific reference point to play her character – Barbara Stanwyck’s performance in the 1941 screwball comedy “The Lady Eve”. Talking about her casting, Waller-Bridge says:
“Kathy [Kathleen Kennedy] was in London and asked to have dinner with me, and casually mentioned this [role]. I immediately ordered ten bottles of wine.
Then it was the fastest I’ve ever read a script; I came out of a sort of haze afterwards. I just couldn’t believe how much fun I had and how moved I was by it. And then I had a Zoom and screamed, ‘YES!’ at them all.”
“Indiana Jones 5” will hit cinemas everywhere on June 30th 2023.
