Channing Tatum To Lead Leitch’s “Red Shirt”

Sony Pictures

Channing Tatum is attached to star in the spy thriller “Red Shirt” which has “Hobbs & Shaw” helmer David Leitch set to direct and Simon Kinberg (“This Means War,” “Sherlock Holmes”) to write.

The project is being dubbed a “new spin on James Bond” that has franchise potential. All three talents are producing along with Kelly McCormick.

Several studios have reportedly submitted offers to acquire the film, with a sale potentially happening before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Tatum is coming off the dual success of “Dog” and “The Lost City” earlier this year and has “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” opening early next year.

Leitch had a hit with “Bullet Train” this Summer, a film in which Tatum has a fun cameo as a passenger, and is currently working on “The Fall Guy” with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. Kinberg is in production on the Colin Farrell-led TV series “Sugar” at Apple.
