“Fast X,” the upcoming tenth (and supposedly second last) film in the highly lucrative “Fast and the Furious” franchise, has reportedly blown out its budget.
The Wrap has revealed that Universal’s new entry has gone way over the $200 million cost of its predecessor – last year’s “F9: The Fast Saga”. Here, the film’s budget allegedly now stands at an eye-watering $340 million.
The surging budget, which factors in tax-incentive offsets, reportedly ties to a number of costs, including “increased salaries”. These include production costs, causes by global inflation, and charges for pandemic testing requirements:
Combined with a massive marketing budget, theatrical profits for “Fast X” could be significantly lower than previous installments which have generated $6.6 billion worldwide in ticket sales – peaking with “Furious 7” which earned $1.5 biilion.
