Paramount Pictures has announced 2025 release dates for two animated features on the way based on beloved TV series.
The untitled new “SpongeBob SquarePants” movie has set a May 23rd 2025 release and will be produced by Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation.
Meanwhile the untitled “Avatar: The Last Airbender” movie is coming out October 10th 2025 and hails from Nickelodeon Animation, Paramount Animation and Avatar Studios. Both films will get wide theatrical releases.
The animated ‘Airbender’ film is one of three standalone films in the franchise in the works at Paramount and Nickelodeon, with this being the first to get a release date.
Original series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who aren’t involved in Netflix’s live-action series adaptation, are behind the animated films.
