Universal Pictures

Sky and Peacock are moving forward on a TV series adaptation of Frederick Forsyth’s arguably most famous novel – “The Day of the Jackal”.

“Top Boy” showrunner Ronan Bennett is attached to this contemporary reimagining of the assassin thriller. The original follows a professional assassin who is contracted by a French paramilitary dissident to kill French President Charles de Gaulle.

The property has been adapted twice to the screen before with 1973’s Edward Fox-led film and the Bruce Willis/Richard Gere loose film adaptation in 1997.

“Game of Thrones” alum Brian Kirk will direct with Bennett writing and showrunning. Production will begin next summer.
