With “The Witcher” now in the rearview mirror for him, actor Henry Cavill continues to talk about his return to the role of Superman for the upcoming “Man of Steel” sequel.
Just a week ago, Cavill confirmed in a social media post that he is officially returning to the role in a new Superman film following his cameo at the end of “Black Adam”.
Later that week, in a podcast recording, he said he is “excited to tell a story with an enormously joyful Superman”. Now he’s offered a new interview with ScreenRant and says the aim for his return to the character is to deliver a Last Son of Krypton who inspires:
“There is so much in the way of conversations to be had. Obviously, I have a very close connection to the character, and there is something extraordinarily special about him; extraordinarily special about his capacity to give and to love. I don’t mean romantically; I mean his love for Earth and for the people who live here, and to make people feel powerful – to make people feel like Superman themselves.
I have plenty of desires for this, of course, which will be discussed more in time. But the most important thing, which I will be aiming for, is for the audience to leave the cinema and to feel like they can fly, to feel like they can protect, and to feel like they want to give to everyone else. That would be my goal.”
So far, Cavill’s comments have all fallen along the lines of offering a big-screen Superman who is far more positive than his portrayal in the Zack Snyder-directed Superman outings. The new film is currently soliciting pitches from writers.
