The “Ferrari” biopic, being directed by Michael Mann and starring Adam Driver, has wrapped filming in Modena, Italy.
A long-gestating passion project of Mann, the story is set in 1957 with the race car maker facing bankruptcy and a crumbling marriage with his wife, Laura (Penelope Cruz).
Ferrari and his team of drivers roll the dice on one race – 1,000 miles across Italy. Shailene Woodley plays Enzo’s mistress Lina Lardi, Patrick Dempsey is race car driver Piero Taruffi, Jack O’Connell is fellow driver Peter Collins, Sarah Gadon is Linda Christian, and Gabriel Leone is Fon de Portago.
The project marks “Heat” and “Collateral” director Mann’s first feature directorial effort since 2015’s “Blackhat” (though he did recently helm the pilot of his HBO series “Tokyo Vice”).
Fincher’s go-to cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt serves as lenser on the project which began filming in Italy in July, and now wraps after three and a half months. The project is targeting a Fall 2023 release.
