Second Trailer: Todd Field’s “TAR”

Focus Features

Following his celebrated 2001 debut with “In the Bedroom” and the similarly acclaimed 2006 feature “Little Children,” filmmaker Todd Field finally returns with his third directing effort in the psychological drama “TAR”.

The story is set in the international world of classical music and follows Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett), widely considered one of the greatest living composers/conductors and the first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra.

As Deadline puts it, the film is an “exceptionally detailed portrait of a promethean artist eventually hoisted on her own petard.” The film opens in cinemas with a limited release on October 7th before expanding wide on October 28th.
