R.I.P. Henry Silva

Actor Henry Silva, whose jawline, high cheekbones and intensity made him a go to screen villain, has died in California. The Brooklyn-born prolific character actor was 95.

Silva appeared in more than 130 movies and television shows, playing a thug, hit man or other distinctive characters in films such as “The Manchurian Candidate,” “Ocean’s Eleven,” “Johnny Cool,” “Above the Law,” “The Boss,” “The Italian Connection,” “Sharky’s Machine,” “Dick Tracy,” “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai,” and “Chained Heat”.

Other films include “Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold,” “Cinderfella,” “The Hills Run Red,” “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century,” “The Bravados,” “Day of the Assassin,” “Love and Bullets,” “The End of Violence,” “Alligator,” “Amazon Women on the Moon” and many more.

He was also the voice of Bane in the 1990s “Batman” animated series. His last screen appearance was in 2001’s “Ocean’s Eleven” remake. Silva is survived by his two sons Scott and Michael.
