Peacock has scored the rights to the high-profile, darkly comedic murder mystery series titled “The Show Must Go On” which boasts an interesting premise.

A seasonal anthology series, each season takes place in the days leading up to a big, live, televised event and will tackle a new murder with a refreshed cast. For the first season, said event will be “The Phantom of The Opera Live!” – a live TV version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical.

The cast and crew must deal with endless production problems, warring stars, mounting network pressures, and the untimely death of one of the leads. Everyone must come together to put on the greatest show of their lives – assuming they survive that long.

This marks the first time Webber’s musical is used as part of a TV series and Webber himself is hopping onboard as executive producer alongside “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playbook” creator Austin Winsberg, award-winning producer Robert Greenblatt, director Richard Shepard, and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum.

‘Phantom’ will not be performed in its entirety, but many of its famous scenes, including its iconic song “The Music of the Night” will be featured on the show.

Winsberg penned the series with Lionsgate Television and Universal Television backing the project.
