Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday at Balmoral Castle, filming on Netflix’s Emmy-winning drama “The Crown” will likely be halted for a period of time says writer Peter Morgan.
Morgan, who also penned the 2006 film “The Queen” starring Helen Mirren, spoke with Deadline and says: “The Crown is a love letter to her and I’ve nothing to add for now, just silence and respect. I expect we will stop filming out of respect too.”
Netflix reportedly has had plans in place should Queen Elizabeth die during its run, with one of the show’s architects Stephen Daldry saying back in 2016 that filming would halt as a mark of respect.
“The Crown” has had three actresses who have portrayed the Queen: Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton, with the first of Staunton’s two-season run beginning on Netflix in November.
Meanwhile, the official social media account of Paddington Bear has paid tribute to the passing of the monarch.
Thank you Ma’am, for everything.
