Disney Television is reportedly in the very early stages of development on “King Kong,” a Disney+ live-action series tracking the original story of the famous ape.
“Paper Girls” creator Stephany Folsom is penning the serialized action-adventure drama that updates the classic monster story for the modern age and offers a return to Skull Island and the dawn of a new Kong.
The series will use IP from Merian C. Cooper’s original books and the new King Kong novelizations by Joe DeVito, and thus isn’t connected to the ‘Kong’ Monsterverse films at Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures.
James Wan’s Atomic Monster label is backing the project with Wan, Folsom, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, Dannie Festa and Marc Manus executive producing.
