The key trio of actors who led this Spring’s multiverse-jumping indie film sensation “Everything Everywhere All at Once” are reuniting for the Disney+ service.

Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and now Stephanie Hsu are all set to reunite on the series adaptation of the Gene Luen Yang graphic novel “American Born Chinese”.

The story follows Jin Wang (Ben Wang), a teenager juggling his high school social life with his immigrant home life. When Jin meets foreign exchange student Wei-Chen (Jim Liu) on the first day of school, their worlds collide as Jin becomes entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological gods.

Hsu will guest star as Shiji Niangniang, the Goddess of Stones who works in a modern-day jewellery shop alongside her magical dog. Quan will play Freddy Wong, a fictional character from a popular mid-1990s sitcom.

Yeoh is set to play Guanyin, an unassuming auntie who helps Wei-Chen navigate the challenges of American high school while maintaining her secret identity as the all-powerful Buddhist bodhisattva of Compassion.

“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” helmer Destin Daniel Cretton directs and executive produces alongside Yang, Melvin Mar, Jake Kasdan, Asher Goldstein, Erin O’Malley and Kelvin Yu who also writes.

The news comes as ‘Everything Everywhere’ recently crossed the $35 million mark at the box office.
